We had our first group supervision and only 2 turned up. S and myself.
Since it was a first time for us and am not sure of my SV, we were not sure of what to expect. We have not experience this before.
As usual, the checking in. Relaxation. Have a thought about your personal physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. We did a simple drawing of our self state at that moment of time. I took a yellow paper and draw a maze with routes to the middle. In the middle, there were some sharp zigzag spikes. Not sure of what that might mean
We started off with S exploring her SDQs. She went through with 2 of 4 SDQs she got.
S told us of the scores, we calculated it. A good reminder was that, ProSocial is not to be calculated. So S recalculate. And scores are still within the range us trainee therapist could deal with.
From the score S gave, we tried describing the client based on assumptions.
In which, we described each components: Emotional, Conduct Problem, Hyperactivity and Peers. Scores are described as Normal, Borderline and Abnormal.
The first client presented has a 0 score for emotion and abnormal for peers. ProSocial scores 1.
SV suggested that in the case that the sdq total is not within our range, we can still attend to them because prosocial and emotion is showing a low scores. This is showing that something is not right with this particular client.
Next we looked into the other client and did the same.
Once done, we then moved on to myself.
I was asked to pick a symbol from the box that may represent my client. I took this rotten peanut like shape and placed them in the middle. I then chose a couple of other symbols that might describe my client further. SV kept on questioning about what I think of client. What symbol describes the client.
